situated just north of the Village proper, bounded by a New York State

Just south of the Athens property, the State of New York recently made
significant improvements to the boat launch, increasing public access and use of
the area for both boating access to the Hudson as well as fishing opportunities
on the overflow creek from Sleepy Hollow Creek.

Across the creek from the boat launch is a designated wetland under public
control. The Village has constructed a ball field, walking trail and general
recreational space upland of the wetland.
The Athens property offers undeveloped open space and ecological resources, as
well as scenic views of the east side of the Hudson in Columbia County. The view
of the Athens property from the River is unspoiled, an important feature given
the industrial development and aging facilities located at the waterfront within
the Village of Athens proper.
An opportunity exists to connect the improved State boat launch with the wetland area. The village's recreational area and the listed 16 acre Athens parcel, to create a continuous district to resource conservation, open apace and recreation.
